Fire Destroys Home Off Hwy 411
A Blazing fire destroyed a mobile home off US Hwy 411 Tuesday. Just before 2pm, The Rome Fire Department responded to a call from a passerby that a home was in flames on Hwy 411 near Biddy road.
Firefighters were on the scene within 10 minutes and according to officials at the scene, the mobile home was completely involved.
Andrew Massey was traveling on 411 on his way to make a hay delivery and saw the home on fire. He said he called 911 and ran to the home and started beating on the windows. Massey kicked in the door to look for anyone that may be inside the residence but was unable to find anyone.
According to Massey, he heard explosions coming from the burning residence and 911 operators told him to get away from the home so he would not be injured.
Rome Fire Department Batalion Chief Troy Brock said they had reports someone may be in the residence but upon a preliminary and secondary search, they determined the home was empty.
The home was completely destroyed by the fire. Fire Officials are on the scene attempting to determine a cause of the blaze.
