Adairsville Police Capture Chase Suspect In Floyd County.

Adairsville police have arrested an Atlanta man after he led them on a chase into Floyd County that ended when the driver wrecked his vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 140 and Hwy 53 in northern Floyd County.

According to Adairsville police officer Jason Stansell, 40 year old Maurice Granato had been pulled over by another Adairsville officer near Main Street when he fled the scene almost colliding with officer Stansell.

Adairsville police gave chase down Hwy 140 toward Floyd County reaching speeds near 90 miles per hour until Granato’s purple Dodge Neon began blowing tires. By the time the Neon reached Hwy 53 it was driving on three rims and only had one good tire left.

When Granato reached Hwy 53 he attempted to turn north toward Calhoun but lost control, skidding across the intersection and landing down an embankment causing the car to catch fire.

Granato attempted to flee the accident scene and run over a hill near the intersection but was tackled by Officer Stansell and arrested.

According to Stansell, Granato will be charged with a laundry list of charges including attempted assault on an officer. The driver told police he ran because his license was suspended

The suspect has been taken to the Bartow County jail.
