Green Power Results Coming This Spring.
Early results of a study of wind power may be available from the Green Power EMC this spring.
Green Power EMC is a joint effort of 17 of the state’s electric co-ops and the test was conducted from July of 2005 through June of 2006 atop the Oglethorpe Power Rocky Mountain Pumped Storage Hydroelectric plant in northwest Floyd County.
Dan Hart a VP at Green Power said today that part of the difficulty in massaging the data is interpreting the results and determining if the results are typical of the average year.
Hart said that important, and expensive decisions will have to be made based on the analysis of the data which is being done by a firm called Airtricity, a Chicago based company, which has developed wind farms in Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales and the US.
