Another IGA Store Closes It Doors.

By RomeNewswire • on February 11, 2007

RomeNewswire first reported last week that the Calhoun Avenue location of IGA had closed, in addition the reopening of the Maple Avenue store appeared to be in jeopardy.

Now one week later, the Armuchee location of IGA has shut its doors as well. Apparently the Armuchee location, which was the first store to switch to the IGA brand from Piggly Wiggly, closed its doors Saturday night leaving even more employees scratching their heads and looking for work.

IGA took over the old Piggly Wiggly stores in Rome last year. Sources have indicated that Save a Lot is looking at the Maple Road location for a possible store.

IGA also operates a store on Shorter Avenue and that store, the flagship store for many years in the old Pig chain, is expected to continue under the IGA banner.
