Area Job Numbers.
Unemployment in Rome and Floyd County dropped to 4.1% in February. The new numbers released this morning by the Ga. Dept. of Labor show that joblessness across the ten county northwest Georgia region was 4.2% in February. Rome’s rate was well below the state rate of 4.4% and the national rate of 4.9% for February. A year ago, Rome’s rate was 4.8% and two years ago unemployment locally was at 6%. The Dept. of Labor says that Rome companies added about a hundred new jobs in February, bring employment at locally owned company’s up to more than 44,800.
