Man Arrested For Commercial Fishing The Coosa.

(ThreeRiversReport) When you think of commercial fishing, the Coosa river does not come to mind for most people. However, it did for one Cedar Bluff Alabama Man.

36 year old Franklin Kenny Ford was arrested by Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies Monday Jun 11 on warrants taken by Georgia DNR ranger Shaun Elmore for taking 117 catfish and 1 carp back on May 27th.

According to Ranger Elmore, Ford was using baskets to catch the cats in an area known as Byrne’s Bottom on the Coosa south of Rome. Elmore says it’s not the first time Ford has been arrested for basket fishing.

He was charged with theft by taking, making false statements, possession of illegally taken fish, operating a vessel without a license, non-resident commercial fishing and use of the fishing baskets. He was released from the Floyd County jail after making bond.
