Locals Ship In Hay From Michigan For Area Farmers.
With the dry weather all across the South East, cattle, horse and goat owners have been struggling to find hay to feed their animals.
Many of them have been forced to sell their livestock because their grass has died and hay is no where to be found.
Livestock auctions like the Calhoun Stockyard have been seeing record numbers of animals pass through their gates due to farmers selling their stock because they can not find hay to feed them.
While the South is stuck in desperate drought, Farmers in the North have had plenty of rain and are seeing large supplies of hay being produced. That is where one man saw a chance to help local farmers.
Roman Carl Lively along with his sister C.J. Lively who lives in Michigan have organized an effort to bring hay from Michigan where the supplies are plentiful to people here in Rome who are in desperate need of that hay.
The two have been able to have several tractor trailer loads of the hay shipped down at a reduced rate.
If you would like some of this hay, you can contact Lively at 706-252-4215
