Judge Refuses Nursing Home Injunction.
George Houser, owner of the Forum Healthcare Groups will have to go back before the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to restore funding for patients at his nusing homes on Three Mile Rd. and Moran Lake Rd. in Rome.
U.S. District Judge Harold L. Murphy of Rome said yesterday that efforts to get an injunction blocking the feds from cutting off funding for his homes this Sunday were not jurisdictional.
The feds announced last month they were cutting off Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements to the two nursing homes July 15th after repeated health and safety violations at the two homes.
No patients are being forced to leave, but with no federal reimbursement, most cannot afford to stay.

Resident family members - current and past - NOW is the time to contact the State of GA and the Federal Medicare and Medicaid office to tell them your personal experiences with George Houser. Do it now and make sure Houser cannot repeat history again somewhere else in Georgia - or worse - at the same facilities in Floyd County.
Speak up for seniors who cannot speak or are afraid to speak out for themselves. Quality care can be provided by Medicare and Medicaid and it does not have to be like the care Houser provided his residents.
I do hope justice prevails.
