Local Youngsters Collect Money For Animal Shelter.

Rome youngster Jennifer Lowry along with friends Jenna Peace and Dawson Edwards collected money outside of the East Rome Wal-Mart for animals at the Floyd County Animal shelter Monday afternoon.
“Jennifer has a soft spot for the animal shelter,” said Debbie Lowery, Jennifer’s mother. “Our dog Buddy came from there 7 years ago. Jennifer has had lemonade stands, and sold cookies to help raise money for the shelter. She feels sorry that the animals don’t have homes, and wants to do what she can to help.”
“We are happy to accept any donations for the shelter,” said Scotty Hancock, Floyd County Animal Control Director. “We are very fortunate to have kids in the community who feel this strongly and are willing to hold fundraisers to help out a worthy cause. You won’t find many 11-year-olds willing to spend three hours of their vacation time collecting money for an animal shelter.”
“I have a passion for animals,” said Jennifer. “I want to help them because they have to depend on us for help.”
