Fire Burns Attic Of Lavender Drive Home.
Firefighters responded to a fire around 9pm on Lavender Drive Tuesday night.
According to the home’s landlord, the residents were on the back porch when the fish they were cooking in the kitchen caught on fire and quickly spread into the attic of the structure.
Rome Police officer Chase Burns arrived on the scene within minutes of the call coming in and was told by residents that one person was still inside the home. Burns rushed inside the burning structure and convinced the unwilling occupant to exit the home.
The home’s owner, Michael Hou says the attic was heavily damaged and the kitchen suffered moderate damage. He said, the roof would most likely need to be replaced.
Redmond EMS was called to the scene to aid a firefighter that apparently suffered heat exhaustion.
Lavender Drive was blocked for nearly two hours as fire fighters doused the fire.
According to officials, the Red Cross was called to assist the family.
