Canada Announces Re-election Bid

City Commissioner Kim Canada has announced his intention to seek re-election in a press release Thursday.

According to the release Canada says:

I appreciated the opportunity that the citizens gave me, and their confidence in electing me as a Commissioner in 2004.

I currently serve as Chairman of the Alcohol Control Commission, Chairman of Traffic Committee, Chairman of Transit, and as the City Commission representative to the Rome Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority. I also serve as a committee member on Water and Sewer, General Administration, Public Works, Finance, Redevelopment Committee, and Transportation Policy Committee.

In serving I have had the opportunity to be a part of a great team in many projects and efforts with the city, and while working with City and County Commissioners, City Staff, Recreation Authority, Chamber of Commerce, Rome City School Board of Education, State and National elected officials, and the citizens for the growth, prosperity, education, public safety, diversified workforce efforts, infrastructure improvements for water, sewer, and roads, public transportation services, public facilities, parks, and the overall enhancement of the City of Rome to make and continue to keep Rome one the Best Cities to live and work in.

Although much has been completed there are still many projects in progress, and in planning, and more work to be done, and I am prepared to continue the work and efforts with my experience and leadership as your Commissioner for another four years.

I would appreciate the opportunity to continue serving the citizens of Rome and in continuing the positive progress as your representative on the Commission. Thank you for your support, and for the opportunity to serve each of you. I am a graduate of the Southern Institute of Technology, a life long resident of Rome and Floyd County, and I am married with one daughter.
