Collins To Seek Re-election, Slack To Run

Rome City Commissioner Bill Collins is the latest incumbent candidate to announce that he will be seeking re-election this November.

Also Friday, New comer Milton Oliver Slack III announced that he will run for the Rome City Commission, Ward 1 seat. Slack was a 1961 graduate of Main high School. He  currently serves on the Pastor’s Council of the North Rome Church of God, where he is a member, along with his wife Clementine Slack.

Yesterday, Wright Bagby, who has been on the Commission for four years, announced he will seek re-election. Bagby says there are a number of great things happening in the city, and he would like to see them come to fruition.

On Wednesday, Bagby’s fellow Ward 1 Commissioner Buzz Wachteter announced that he would also be seeking another term. Former State Representative Paul Smith is seeking a Ward 2 seat, while soon-to-be former school board member Jim Greer is running in Ward 3.

Qualifying for the November 6th Election officially begins on Monday.

It’s a shame that Bill Schroeder doesn’t run for office. I bet he’d do great.
