Seward Leaving Chamber For Unity Christian School
Mickey Seward, who has served as the Director of Communications and Special Projects at the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce since last August, has been named Associate Director of Development at Unity Christian School in Rome, according to UCS headmaster Glenn Getchell.
Seward’s first day at UCS will be September 4th.
Seward, who informed his Chamber co-workers of his decision to join the staff at UCS in early August, will join a development team at UCS that is responsible for all fundraising efforts, including the school’s Annual Fund, corporate sponsorships, grant development, and future capital campaigns.
According to Headmaster Getchell, the development office has recently been re-defined to more adequately meet the school’s marketing and fundraising needs. Getchell commented, “We are excited that God has led Mickey to join with us in our mission to provide Kingdom education and are certain he will continue to build on our recent development advances.”
“A lot went into the decision to join the staff at UCS,” Seward said. “Throughout the process, there were a lot of conversations and also a lot of prayer and seeking God’s will. It became evident during that process that God was steering me to UCS.”
“I appreciate very much Al Hodge and the staff at the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce for allowing me to be part of their family for the past year. They do an incredible job and work so hard to help make Rome and Floyd County a great place to live and work.”
Seward, 34, came to the Chamber after spending the previous decade working in college athletics. He was the director of Sports Information and Promotions at Berry College from 2003-2006, and prior to that, worked on the NCAA Division I level at the University of Texas at Arlington and at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He also served as the press officer for the USA National Baseball Team in 2000.
Seward, a 1995 Illinois State University graduate, and his wife, Kristie, are active members of West Rome Baptist Church and volunteer at West Rome’s local ministry XL. He also works closely with the International Sports Federation, a sports mission organization.
