GSP Chases Motorcycle At Speeds Over 154mph On Highway 27- Man Says He Was Late For Appt. At State Patrol

Georgia State Patrol officers led a chase Wednesday morning that saw speeds reach as high as 154mph on Highway 27 North in Armuchee.
Rome-Floyd 911 received a call at 9:34am from Chattooga 911 warning them that a grey motorcycle was being chased in Chattooga County by Chattooga authorities and Georgia State Patrol officers and heading into Floyd County.
According to GSP officials, the rider, identified as Justin Patterson of Gordon County, clipped a vehicle in Chattooga County while traveling 130mph, knocking off his muffler but not
causing him to wreck.
The chase continued into Floyd County and Floyd County officers picked up the chase near highway 140.
GSP officers were behind Patterson at 134mph along Highway 27 when he began to pull away. Another GSP officer clocked him at 154mph.
Patterson turned left toward Richard B Russell Airport and was finally cornered in front of the terminal by GSP and was taken into custody.
An officer from the Department of Natural Resources participated in the chase as well.
According to officers, Patterson will be charged with fleeing and attempting to allude and leaving the scene of an accident. More charges are expected.
Patterson told State Troopers that he was speeding because he was late for an appointment at the State Patrol barraks to get his motorcycle license.
