Berry To Hold Campus Safety Awareness Day
The Berry College Police Department will host Campus
Safety Awareness Day on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in support of Campus Safety
Awareness Month. The event will take place on the fields between Hermann Hall
and the Ford Complex on Berry’s main campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please note
that this is a campus event only and not open to the general public.
The Rome Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia
Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Unit, Floyd County Police
Department, Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit, Rome/Floyd County Emergency
Management Agency, Redmond Regional Medical Center, Floyd Medical Center and
Erlanger Life Flight are among the agencies scheduled to participate. Live
demonstrations will include helicopter repelling by the Georgia State Patrol
SWAT Team, a bomb squad demonstration by the Northwest Georgia Bomb Disposal
Unit, fire suppression by the Rome Fire Department aerial fire truck, a K-9 Unit
drug search demonstration by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and a mobile
crime lab from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
“We want to showcase the emergency resources available within the local
community and how closely Berry works with them,” said Bobby Abrams, chief of
the Berry College Police Department. “It will be fun, and we hope it will give
the Berry community some peace of mind as they see reports of tragic news and
disasters nationally.”
