Barge Gets Stuck, Then Gets Free

After months of planning, the installation of the first beam to span the new pedestrian foot bridge was delayed, at least temporarilary.
The barge that is floating the beam to the footbridge was apparentyly stuck on the bottom of the river.
Officials with Scott Bridge moved the crane to the back of the barge to lighten the load on the front to free it from the river bottom.
RomeNewswire.com asked an official from Scott Bridge Company about the barge striking bottom and he replied “low water”.
The beam was off loaded onto a staging strucuture and will be placed on the bridge supports tomorrow officials say.
