K-mart Evacuated Due To Natural Gas Odor

Employees and customers at Rome’s K-mart were evacuated Wednesday night when employees noticed what they thought was a stong smell of gas in the bakery department.

Rome fire officials were called to the scene around 11:08pm.

When firefighters arrived, they determined the smell was not the natural gas as the employees had thought but instead a stong smell from the sewer.

Employess were allowed to return inside the store by 11:25pm.
