Speaker Of Georgia House Touts New Tax Plan In Rome
Republican House Speaker Glen Richardson of Paulding County told Coosa Valleyans in Rome Thursday night that the founding fathers would have been appalled at the system of property taxes that have been in place in Georgia and across America for decades.
Richardson talked about his desire to eliminate property taxes for over an hour at the Forum Thursday night. His plan, called GREAT, proposes to eliminate property taxes in Georgia.
The Speaker also addressed concerns about taxing medical services. He said he his plan would not tax major medical expenses.
Speaker Richardson said all he is asking for is for a statewide referendum to allow the citizens of Georgia to vote on the plan.
