Morning Fire Damages Downtown Home
A morning fire severely damaged a home in the downtown area Saturday morning.
According to Rome/Floyd 911, the call came in about 8:40am that a home behind Bert Brooks tire was on fire.
Firefighters responded to the scene and according to officials the home was heavily involved in the attic of the structure when they arrived.
According to police, the vacant home has had problems with vagrants recently.
It is not clear what started the fire but officials say the home had no utilities and the blaze appears suspicious.
