Trail Of Tears Association Comes To Rome
Cherokee Nation chief Chadwick Smith, a graduate of the Univ. of Georgia , will be among the dignitaries in Rome this week for the Trail of Tears Association conference in Rome.
Visitors will also tour other important Cherokee sites, including the Chief Vann House and New Echota, the former tribal capital during the event.
Chieftains Museum will host a reception at the end of Tuesday’s activities. Meetings will take place in the Forum where presentations will presentations revisiting the old federal road in Georgia, tracing the black experience on the trail of tears and a keynote presentation on the removal from Dr. Sarah Hill.
