A Familiar Face, Two Newcomers On Commission
Four Rome city commissioners hold on to their seats while a familiar face and two outright newcomers are elected last night.
Milton Slack the third becomes the first African American to be elected to the commission withouth having first been appointed to a post. He nudged incumbent Norm Skidmore by four votes to win a seat from ward one with Wright Bagby and Buzz Wachsteter.
Evie McNiece become the third woman to sit on the council, following I the footsteps of Martha Kennedy and Katie Dempsey. She joins Bill Collins and Kim Canada from Ward Three.
In Ward two, Duane Reid was elected by a slim seven vote margin over former House of Representatives member Paul Smith.
In area Mayoral races, Ron Casey was a winner in Kingston, Matt Santini in Cartersville, Evan King in Adairsville and Jimmy Palmer in Calhoun.
