City Calling For Water Rate Increase
Another rate hike appears to be on the way for Rome water and sewer customers.
City manager John Bennett recommended a 3% increase in both water and sewer rates to the water and sewer committee Tuesday. Bennett said the increase is needed due to the decrease in water revenues.
The committee also learned that Paulding County wants to snatch 41 million gallons a day from the Etowah River to help stock a proposed reservoir. Rome will ask the state for a public hearing to help determine the full ramifications of that project.
