Schools Talk SPLOST
When the state cuts funds for local school systems, the locals are faced with cutting services, raising taxes, or asking voters to approve an education sales tax.
The latter seems to be favored by both Rome and Floyd County systems and while the sales tax does not guarantee there won’t be an increase in property taxes, it does go a long way to meeting the systems capital needs.
Tonight, the Rome and Floyd County schools will come together at 5:00 at the Rome Floyd Library to talk about a third education sales tax when the current penny tax expires.
Technology improvements and classroom additions across both systems appear to be near the top of the needs list.
