Bomb Threat Evacuates Mount Berry Square Mall, Explosive Device Has Now Been Detonated

Police officials discovered a suspected explosive device near the front entrance of Mt Berry Square mall around 8am Monday morning. Police and EMA personnel evacuated the mall area.
Emergency personnel organized a staging area at Treasure Island Pizza and did not allow anyone beyond the barracades that had been set up.
Law enforcement officials now confirm that a possible explosive device was detonated by the Northwest Georgia bomb squad. Our reporter on the scene heard a call of “fire in the hole” over a loud PA system from the rear of the mall and then heard a loud explosion.
According to officials, the mall has no reopened and shops are open as normal.
UPDATE!!! Officials confirm that a detonator was not included in the device. Sources tell RomeNewswire that the device appears to not have been a danger.
