A Hispanic Male eluded both State Patrol Troopers and Rome Police Officers Late Sunday after bailing from a traffic stop.
According to Scanner Traffic, at around 6:30 PM, local police were informed that a State Trooper was in a foot pursuit with a Hispanic male behind Wal-Mart East. Available units from the Rome Police responded to the area and assisted with the State Patrol’s search after the male was lost in the woods between Wal-Mart and GA Loop 1. While the investigation is still ongoing, it appeared nothing was found in the vehicle. Police ended their extensive search around 7:00 PM.

According to witnesses who were entering Wal-Mart, they observed the vehicle, a red, older model Buick, speeding down the entrance ramp in front of Milano’s with a GSP Charger in close pursuit. The vehicles came to a stop beside the Garden Center where the Hispanic Male bailed, leaving a female and small child, and ran down an enbankment and into the woods. Also, witnesses reported that for the few minutes that Law Enforcemant was in pursuit, the female passenger was seen extensively searching through the car which had been abadoned.
