Early Morning Fire Destroys West Rome Home

By RomeNewswire • on January 30, 2008

An early morning fire has completely destroyed a home on Beverly Drive in West Rome.

According to Battalion Chief Troy Brock with the Rome Fire Department, the call initially came in as a fire behind the structure but when firefighters arrived, they realized that the structure was heavily involved in the attic.

Three engine companies responded to the scene, including the ladder truck to help battle the flames that were made worse due to the high winds. Brock said the wind pushed the fire toward an adjacent home. That home was scorched but firefighters were able to save it from igniting.

EMA officials were called to the scene to help secure the area due to live fallen power lines.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
