A Pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Thursday night West of Cave Spring on US Highway 411.
Cave Spring Fire Units and Redmond EMS responded to the area of the Former Hilliard Farms west of downtown Cave Spring around 8:30 PM.
The man, now identified as 28 year old Jeremy Owens of Cave Spring, was apparently hitch hiking when he was struck.
Witnesses said Owens appeared to have been agitated at a vehicle that passed him and did not pick him up. They said he turned in the road and was making an obscene gesture toward the vehicle when he was hit.
Neighbors from the area said Owens had been in the road near where he was hit for about 15 minutes screaming at passing vehicles.
A Life-Flight med-evac helicopter was called and a landing zone set up across from the Rhonda’s store at the intersection of Highway 100.
Shortly before 10:00 PM, that helicopter took off with Owens en route to Chattanooga’s Erlanger Medical Center.
