Bartow Jail Expansion Should Break Ground By Fall
Groundbreaking for a major expansion of the Bartow County jail should happen this fall.
The current price-tag is still $30 million, with members of a study committee hoping to slice that before constructions actually begins.
The current facility typically houses between 600 and 670 inmates and that number will go up to a thousand after the addition is completed. The expansion will also require close to 30 new jail officers.
