Historic Courthouse Evacuated After Smoke Fills First Floor

The historic courthouse in downtown was evacuated just after 1pm on Tuesday after smoke filled the lower level of the building.

According to fire department Battalion Chief Steve Wilson, a fan motor in the building locked up and began smoking.

The entire building was evacuated while the structure was ventilated.

Employees were allowed to return to work after about 20 minutes.
