Possible Tornado Rips Through Polk County
Officials in Polk County are cleaning up after a strong line of storms plowed through the area late Friday night.
It is not clear at this point but it appears either a possible tornado or strong straight line winds ripped through the area causing severe damage in its path.
Some of the areas that experienced damage were the area around Meadow Lakes Golf Course, Lake Creek Rd.,Colquitt Rd and Pleasant Valley Rd.
According to reports, a home on Adams Road was hit by a falling tree. RomeWired members are reporting that the family is okay but a family pet was killed.
Cedartown readers report seeing a funnel cloud in the area of Colquitt Road. A home located at 601 Colquitt Rd reported an outbuilding was totally destroyed.450 Colquitt rd reports roof damage and their windows blown out. 170 Colquitt Rd reports major damage to a home. 186 Colquitt Rd reports a tree has struck a trailer.
Other reports say that a funnel cloud was seen from the area of Casey’s grocery store.
One caller to Polk 911 reported his porch had been blown into the road.
