Busy Agenda for City Commission
Objections to the appointment of a Hospitality Association member to the Alcohol Control Commission will be aired out Monday night during the Rome city commission meeting.
The name of George Kastanias was placed on first reading at the last commission meeting and that drew opposition from Kim Canada, the former chairman of the ACC. He said he wasn’t opposed to the Rome restaurateur personally, but said putting a hospitality association member on the ACC board was akin to putting a fox in charge of the henhouse.
The city commission will also act on bids for a new red light camera at all four approaches to the intersection of Martha Berry Blvd and the By-pass. Transit fees for handicapped riders of the Rome Transit Dept. will also be adjusted Monday night.
