Floyd/Polk Disaster Relief Center To Open Thursday
The Floyd and Polk County Disaster Relief Center will open Thursday, March 27 at 8 a.m.at the Polk Emergency Management Agency, 55 Cline Ingram Jackson Road in Cedartown. The Polk EMA office is located near the Polk County Jail.
DRCs will operate daily from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., except on Sunday. Operating hours on Sunday will be determined. Anticipate DRCs being open through Saturday, April 5, 2008.
Residents and business owners in Floyd County who sustained losses should begin applying for assistance by registering online at http://www.fema.gov/ or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (local time) Monday through Sunday.
Residents must register online or via phone to receive a registration number. Assistance cannot be granted without the registration number. Once a registration number is given, residents should go to the DRC and begin applying for federal assistance. Local government representatives, GEMA, FEMA, Small Business Administration, Insurance Commissioner’s office and mental health / crisis counseling services will be available at the DRC.
