Two Killed In Chattooga County Fire

Two people were killed in a deadly fire in Southern Chattooga County, only a few miles from the Floyd County line Monday night.

According to police, 58 year old Derna Etchinson and 36 year old Alabama resident Christopher Brian Graham were killed in the fire that destroyed their mobile home at 116 Poplar Springs Road around 11:30pm.

Darryl Etchinson, the husband of Derna Etchinson, told police he arrived after the home was on fire and tried to put the fire out but was unable to.

The GBI was called to the scene and the bodies were taken to the GBI crime lab in Summerville.

Authorites are tight lipped about the cause of the fire until the investigation is complete.
