DNR Issues New Conservation Report

The Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources has published a new non- game wildlife report which includes data on both rare flora and fauna across the state.
The report discusses a couple of rare orchids, one called the monkey faced orchid found on the Pine Log Wildlife management area in northeastern Bartow County and the Shadow Witch Orchid found on the Crockford Pigeon Mtn WMA in Walker County.
The report also talks about a plan for allowing development along the Etowah River basin while protecting the federally listed Amber, Cherokee and Etowah darters.
That plan is slated for completion something later this year. Copies of the report are available on line at the Dept. of Natural Resources website.
