Rome City Commissioner Bill Collins says citizens are confused about new multi purpose fields at the Crane Street and Tolbert Parks.

It was a relatively quick meeting for the commission which re-appointed Jim Keaton to the Housing Authority, reappointed Bill Irmsher to the Planning Commission, also appointed Rhonda Wallace to the Planning Commission and appointed Paul Ferguson to the South Rome Redevelopment Commission.

The commission approved rezoning at Maple and E. 20th which will facilitate improvements to the shopping center at that intersection, okayed a rezoning on Burnett Street but rejected a special use permit for duplex units on Chambers Street in north Rome.

The City Commission has set aside May 2nd as Public Safety Day. During that day, services will be held at the law enforcement plaza after which a lone bagpiper will leader 5-600 officers down Broad Street for a barbecue to salute public safety employees at the Forum.
