By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings
A brush fire sent apartment tenants into a frenzy after it endangered an apartment building in West Rome.
Callers called 911 around 7:20 PM Wednesday to report that the woods next to Westminster Apartments, 600 Redmond Rd.(Across from Redmond Hospital), were on fire and the fire was endangering a building.
Rome Fire Units Quint 5, Engine 6, Ladder 1, and Car 25 responded to the scene. Quint 5 arrived on the scene to find the fire was against the structure, but would be easily extinguished.
Quint 5 was able to knock down the flames in less than a minute, but asked Engine 6 to assist with their water supply.
Fire units remained on the scene for a few minutes overhauling the fire which caused no apparent damage to the apartment building.
Georgia Power was also requested to respond to the scene as one of their transformers was involved in the fire and possibly the cause.
