A man was injured early friday evening after wrecking his mountain bike while off-road.
Rome Fire Units were dispatched around 7:30 PM to the area of Lakemont Dr. and Hardin Dr. where a friend of the victim was waiting. According to the complaintant, the victim was around a mile back in the woods and could only be accessed by 4-wheeler or a 4X4 vehicle. Due to this information, the crew of Rome Fire Rescue 1 decided to man their alternate rescue truck, Rescue 2. Unlike Rescue 1, Rescue 2 is a smaller truck that is more adequete for off-road conditions.
Rome Fire units and Floyd EMS stood by on Hardin Dr. for around 20 minutes before the complaintant returned from the scene and told of a better access point. Emergency Personnel then repsonded to Dudley Rd. off of Pleasant Valley Rd. where the victim was said to have been 700 yards past the gate at the end of Dudley Rd.
Fire Crews were able to access the patient around 8:15 PM. The patient was transported to Floyd Medical Center where his condition was unknown.
