Hit and Run Leaves One Injured

By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings

Rome Police Units were in the right place at the right time after a hit and run left a pedestrian injured.

The accident occurred just after 7:00 PM Sunday at the intersection of Maple Ave. and E. 12th St. when a red car hit a pedestrian crossing the street. The pedestrian went oonto the hood, windshield, and rolled off the side hitting the side mirror. Several Rome Police Officers were on foot patrol at Crane Street Park when they were flagged down about the accident. Their quick response was rewarded when they were able to obtain the suspect vehicle description and broadcast it. As the broadcast went out, another City Officer passed the car and was able to stop it on Cave Spring St.

The whole intersection was shut down for a short time. The driver of the red car was arrested and charged with hit and run.
