Police Investigate “Columbine” Like Threats At Coosa Middle School

According to Floyd County police Investigator Sabrina Hall, the Department received information regarding possible acts of violence planned to target Coosa Middle School recently.

The information included the names of three juveniles, who are students at the school, who had made statements to other students that they were planning to “reenact Columbine” at Coosa Middle and “shoot up the school.”

Floyd County Police detectives and School Resource Officer Ojilvia Maldonado acted swiftly to investigate the allegations while school officials took steps to ensure no violence would occur at the school.

On Wednesday (4/30/08) one juvenile was charged with Terroristic Threats and Acts and placed in detention through the Floyd County Juvenile Court. I

The investigation is ongoing, although officials say they do not expect any more arrests in the case.
