CVTC Horticulture Students Help Comcast Cares With Pepperell Middle School Project
Students in Coosa Valley Technical College’s (CVTC) environmental horticulture program were recently recruited by Comcast Cares to help with a beautification project at Pepperell Middle School. As a part of their Garden Design class, five CVTC students, along with their instructor, Shannen Ferry, created a plan to help beautify the breezeway entrance at Pepperell Middle School. The class designed a plan using the theme “Pepperell Pride” in which they incorporated plants to coordinate with Pepperell’s school colors. The plan also includes a “Black Dragon Cryptomeria” as a tribute to the school’s Dragon mascot.
As a part of Comcast Cares Day 2008, the installation of the beautification design will take place this Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at the breezeway of Pepperell Middle School. Nick Knight, a second year environmental horticulture student at CVTC, will serve as the project coordinator for the beautification plan and will join Comcast employees, their families, and friends as they complete the installation.
