City Commission To Talk Finance, Ethics

City commissioners are likely engage In a discussion of their ethics ordinance tonight.

Commissioner Bill Collins has staunchly refused to sign off on the ordinance because of it’s enforcement section. If a complaint were to be lodged against a commissioner, the ordinance now calls for his fellow commissioners to pass judgement.

A study committee has recommended that a panel of elected officials from outside Rome be empanelled to hear the complaint.

The city attorneys office has been working on the fine tuning of that proposal and is expected to make a recommendation to the full commission tonight.

The commission is also expected to act on a couple of financial matters, including budget amendments and Tax anticipation notes of up to $6.5 million
