Outbuilding Fire Leaves One Burned

A fire that consumed an outbuilding and threatened a nearby house also gave minor burns to one victim.
The fire originally was reported around 11:00 PM on Foster Ave. which is just north of Six Mile on US Hwy. 27 South. Witnesses advised that an outbuilding was on fire and was endangering a nearby home. According to reports, furniture was stored in the outbuilding though several small explosions were heard.
Rome Fire Units Engine 2, Quint 3, and Car 25 arrived to quickly douse the flames and save the house. Although, they also arrived to find that a victim had been moderately burned on their hands.
The victim was checked by Floyd EMS and Rescue 1 on the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
