Local Nurse Killed In Accident During Bike Week In Panama City Beach, Florida
An Alabama man who worked as a nurse in the Rome area was killed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend during Bike week in Panama City Beach Florida.
According to Panama City Beach Police Major Dave Humphries, 46 year old Robbie J. Green of Weaver, Alabama was riding his motorcycle north on Pier Park Drive about 3:20 p.m when the motorcycle in front of him stopped to make a turn and Green’s motorcycle slammed into it.
Humphries says Green appeared to be speeding before the accident but exactly how fast will not be known until the investigation is complete. Humphries said officials are conducting an accident reconstruction and those results along with the medical examiner’s report should take about two months.
Reports indicate that Green was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was thrown from the bike.
Officials with FMC confirmed to RomeNewswire that Green was a night shift nurse working at Floyd Medical Center in Rome.
Apparently Green was in PCB for the bike week festivities with a group of friends.
He was lifeflighted to Dothan Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.
