Local Red Cross Volunteers Headed To Macon For Tornado Disaster Relief

Local Red Cross disaster volunteers are headed to the Central Georgia Chapter in Macon to offer assistance following the tornado that struck the community early this past Monday morning.

The tornado, which destroyed buildings and downed trees all over south Macon, was an EF2 — meaning winds reached between 110 and 135 mph (Source: www.macon.com).

Twylah Hill, Ann Vann, and Linda Bussler were deployed to assist with casework. They will be interviewing families affected by the disaster and assessing their immediate emergency needs. Weyland Billingsley assisted by driving an emergency response vehicle (ERV) to the chapter which will be used for mobile feeding.

According to the local Coosa Valley Chapter, they encourages anyone interested in becoming a disaster volunteer to contact the chapter office at 706.291.6648. Please ask for Amy Vickery, Programs Director.
