Dempsey Named to Hospital Study Panel
House Speaker Glenn Richardson has selected Rep. Katie Dempsey of Rome for a Study Committee on Hospital Tax and Indigent Care.
The Speaker said “I am confident that Representative Dempsey will be an asset to this study committee. She is an extremely diligent worker and I know she will work well with the other representatives appointed to this committee,”
The committee was created because nonprofit hospitals in this state receive certain tax incentives and benefits that are economically advantageous, but many of these hospitals, however, provide only minimum amounts of indigent care to assist the people of this state despite these favorable tax provisions.
