A $130,000 shortfall is being forecast for the local health department.
District Health Director Dr. Wade Sellears laid out the numbers and the ramifications for Rome and Floyd County leaders Thursday. At one point, it was suggested that perhaps Redmond, Floyd and Harbin should be asked to make a financial contribution.
Staffing at the Health department in Rome has been cut from 53-42 with two more expected to retire and not be replaced within a matter of weeks. Clinical service and environmental health services alike are facing additional cuts by July 1st.
