Inmate Death Ruled A Homicide

A Coroners inquest into the death of an Inmate at the Floyd County jail has been ruled a homicide according to officials.

28 year old Larry Stokes from Gordon County died on March 2nd at the jail.

The death was ruled a homicide after Stokes was involved in some sort of altercation with another inmate.

The other inmate is listed as Emmanuel Smith. Smith has not been charged although according to District Attorney Leigh Patterson, she is waiting on the GBI to complete their investigation.

Coroner Barry Henderson said previously that a Coroners inquest is mandatory when an individual dies while in custody.
