Motor To Blame For Southeastern Mills Alarm
By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings
Residents may have been awakened by fire engines screaming through the night as they responded to an alarm at Southeastern Mills.
The alarm came in around 3:40 AM after someone pulled an alarm in the south side of the complex, located at 100 E. 1st Ave. The alarm prompted a response from Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Engine 2, Quint 3, and Car 25. These units quickly upgraded their response when a worker called in and reported the plant was filling with smoke.
Units arrived and began their investigation to find that an electric motor had overheated and caught fire. Workers had extinguished the small conflagration prior to their arrival. Maintenece workers were already on the scene as fire units completed their operations.
