RRMC & PMC Join GHA Quality Honor Roll
(Redmond Press Release) Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome, GA and Polk Medical Center of Cedartown, GA have joined the GHA Quality Honor Roll due to their excellent Appropriate Care Measures (ACM) rates. Hospitals recognized on the Quality Honor Roll must have an ACM rate of 88% or higher. ACM is a composite score of ten publicly reported quality improvement measures. The ACM indicates how often a hospital optimizes the right care for patients with heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia, and also measures the quality of care received from the patient’s perspective.
Redmond and Polk’s received this honor because of their excellent ACM rates and dedication to continuous improvement.
This is part of the GHA Board of Trustee’s initiative to move Georgia, as a state, up the CMS quality ladder to be one of the top ten states in the nation by Fourth Quarter 2010.
Based on scientific evidence, these measures allow hospitals to assess care and publicly report results that gauge how well they care for their patients. Barbara Garner, Quality Director for Redmond says of the rates, “Hospitals in Georgia and across the Nation must take action to move patient care to an acceptable level of performance. It is Redmond’s goal to consistently provide the best care to all its patients and to rank in the top 10% in the Nation. Through hard work and dedication to those patients we serve, we are performing extremely well.”
“There are a lot of challenges we face as a small facility, but we are committed to providing to right care to the right patient every time,” says Kathy Lindsey, RN, and Director of Quality, Risk, and Disaster Preparedness for Polk Medical Center. “National Organizations are constantly challenging us and moving us toward safer care, more effective care based on the evidence provided through research, and more affordable healthcare by improving our processes business strategies. We are honored to be among the top 10% in the Nation, and we owe this honor to every employee who walks through the doors of PMC.”
