Brush Fire Smokes Up Twickingham Estates

A smaller roadside fire from earlier in the day spread into thick underbrush on Margo Trail Early Thursday Evening.
Firefighters from Engine 2 had responded Thursday morning to a small roadside fire on Margo Tr. just off Twickingham Rd., but extinguished it.
Later around 5:45PM, Quint 3 was dispatched to the same area to a fire spreading into the trees. They arrived to find another fire across the ditch from the morning fire that had burned around an acre of thick underbrush.
The crew quickly knockdown the fire, but called Georgia Forestry to plow a break through the inaccessible underbrush. The crew of Quint 3 stood by on the scene to monitor the fire until Forestry arrived with a bull-dozer.
